A Quarter Century of Engineering Excellence
Over 25 years ago, Heli-Dyne Systems was founded to provide helicopter owners/operators with the same high quality of modification and completion services offered for fixed-wing aircraft. Since then, HDS has performed more than 600 major helicopter modifications and completions for functions as diverse as air medical, law enforcement, electronic news-gathering, utility and special-mission applications. Literally thousands of helicopters have flowed through HDS' Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex facilities before delivery to their new owners. Aircraft with mods designed and executed by HDS are flying on nearly every continent, performing every conceivable mission.
There are many reasons helicopter owners/operators around the world come to Heli-Dyne Systems. One is capability: HDS is a fully approved and authorized customer service center for Bell Helicopter, American Eurocopter, Agusta Aerospace, MD Helicopter and Schweizer Aircraft. "Our maintenance repair and overhaul facilities provide exceptional quality and customer service for domestic and international customers," says HDS President David Horton. Close to DFW airport, "we can provide a quick turnaround for shipment of replacement and spare parts to anywhere in the world."
With a staff of 75 licensed, factory-trained technicians, HDS' facility covers more than 40,000 sq. ft. with two hangars and a clear approach heliport. The hangars hold sheet metal, electrical, overhaul and repair, composite, and interior shops and a paint booth.
HDS is a fully approved FAA Repair Station (Cert. No. VK1R561K) operating under FAR 145, FAR 21 and MIL-I-45208. It holds Parts Manufacturing Authority for a wide range of helicopter components and subsystems. It's been awarded more than 170 U.S. and foreign single and multiple supplemental type certificates for its PMA designs, Horton says. "We also have the FAA's approval to manufacture PMA items based on our STCs."
HDS's highly skilled engineers have developed numerous helicopter-specific products. Among these are the company's Dual Pivoting Litter (left), which is used for advanced life support missions in a broad range of turbine-powered helicopters. The DPL's two independent points of rotation makes it easy to rotate and elevate the litter, and allows for easy access to patients both in the air and on the ground.
HDS' Modular Emergency Medical System is a self-contained EMS unit that includes a DPL patient bed, two oxygen ports, two suction ports with two canisters and two vacuum pumps, and one medical air port. It can be mounted and dismounted from a helicopter in less than 15 min.
Designed to mount on a Bell 212 or 412, HDS' Airborne Video System (AVS) is an affordable pan/tilt/zoom video camera/LCD monitoring system (with an option for a second camera) that can be installed in less than ten minutes. HDS has also invented a Hoist Recording System with an externally-mounted, waterproof color video camera, 7-in. LCD monitor, and digital recorder that lets pilots supervise hoist operations .
"Heli-Dyne Systems is recognized internationally as a center of excellence, knowledge and depth," concludes David Horton. "Most importantly, we're a company where customers come first, and our record over the last quarter century proves it." HDS can be found on the Web at www.helidyne.net.
