Providing High Performance Components, Sensors, and Systems to the Aerospace Industry
Unison Industries is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical and mechanical components, sensors, and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military, and space uses. A wholly owned subsidiary within GE's Aviation business unit, Unison's major product lines include turbine and piston engine ignition systems, electrical power generation and control systems, starter-generators and generator control units, electrical wiring harnesses and panel assemblies, sensors, switches, bellows and bellows assemblies, and tube/duct assemblies.
Unison's world headquarters is located in Jacksonville, Florida. Other operations are located in Norwich and Holtsville, New York; Rockford, Illinois; Dayton, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; Saltillo, Mexico; Mirabel, Quebec, Canada; and Rayong, Thailand. Collectively, Unison has the resources and personnel to provide truly global service.
Since its founding in 1980, Unison has been a leading innovator in its field; developing new products and enhancing existing products to provide the most advanced and cost-effective high performance technology available in the markets it serves. Initially, Unison began with the purchase of Slick Electro, Inc.; a maker of magneto ignition systems for piston engine aircraft. In subsequent years, Unison expanded the breadth of its product offerings through acquisitions, a strong investment in research and development, and entry into new markets. This strategy proved successful as aerospace and industrial firms worldwide selected Unison to design and supply ignition, electrical power systems, wiring harness, and controls for most turbine and piston powered aircraft produced today.
In April 2002, Unison was acquired by GE Engine Services, Inc. Unison has a strong commitment to technological excellence and customer service, which are core competencies of many GE businesses and fits with GE's corporate philosophy. A leader in the aviation ignition, alternator, wiring harness, and controls market, Unison is a key vehicle for GE to provide controls and accessories to the aerospace marketplace.
In 2005, Unison continued its growth with the acquisition of Aircraft Parts Corporation (APC), a leading manufacturer of starter-generators and generator control units for military jets, business jets, and helicopter applications. The acquisition of APC expanded Unison's existing power generation product line of engine-dedicated alternators and power control and conditioning units.
Today, Unison is a major performance technology company with a global presence and broad product and services offerings. This record of growth continues today as Unison works on the latest applications including the Boeing 787, Airbus A380, and GEnx.
