Australian Army Brigadier Tony Fraser took over Aug. 21 as head of the newly formed Helicopter Systems Div. in the Defence Materiel Organisation and was promoted to major general four days later. The division was created to manage DMO helicopter assets that were part of the Aerospace Systems Div. “The demands on Navy and Army aviation are extremely high, and I am proud to be given the opportunity as head, Helicopter Systems Div. to provide our helicopter capabilities with the best support and equipment possible so that our sailors and soldiers can effect their aviation missions,” Fraser said.

Col. Newman Shufflebarger is the new project manager for Cargo Helicopters within the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office, Aviation at Redstone Arsenal, Ala. He was previously the military assistant to the undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics.

Jet Support Services, Inc. has appointed Kandi M. Spangler as Midwest region sales representative. She will be responsible for JSSI sales and customer relations within the Midwest states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Prior to joining JSSI, she was director, regional sales for The Air Group.


Aero Gear, Inc. has selected Brian Moriarty to head its new Design Engineering Dept., a formalized department combining functions formerly separate throughout the organization. Moriarty, previously the manager of structural and mechanical design engineering at Kaman Aerospace Corp., has more than 22 years of experience in project management and engineering for aerospace programs.

Thomas C. Knudson has been elected new chairman of Bristow Group, Inc.’s board of directors. He replaces Kenneth M. Jones, who retired as chairman and director Aug. 2. Knudson joined the board in June 2004.

FlightSafety International has named George Ferito to the newly created position of director, business development for rotor wing aircraft. Ferito joined FlightSafety in 2001. He will retain his position as manager of the Bell Helicopter Learning Center. FlightSafety International also promoted Linda Zinn to director of business application development. She has been with the company for more than 12 years and has held several positions in Learning Center Operations and at FlightSafety’s corporate headquarters in New York.

AcroHeliPro has made a number of appointments. Steve Walford has moved from sales manager, Western Canada & Hawaii to director, Customer & Technical Support. He started with AcroHeliPro in 1989 and since that time has successfully filled a variety of roles.
