South Africa's air force will soon base six new AgustaWestland A109LUHs in Port Elizabeth. Currently, there are three BK117s there, which arrived in 2002. South African arms manufacturer Denel, an industrial partner with AgustaWestland, will do the final assembly of the Å109s. The A109s will replace the French Alouette 3s. The new helicopter can carry a crew of two plus six passengers, has a cruising speed of 153 kt and a maximum range of 505 nm (935 km). For related news
