Design Review for Firefighting AW139

By James T. McKenna | April 25, 2007

AgustaWestland and the Los Angeles City Fire Dept. this week are doing the preliminary design review for the first firefighting version of the AW139. The department confirmed orders for two of the medium, twin-engine aircraft at the beginning of the year. The aircraft's "easy convertibility for fire-, EMS-, or rescue-related incidents, and cutting-edge technology, will bring the Los Angeles Fire Dept. to the forefront of fire service aircraft design," said L.A. Fire Chief Doug Barry. Simplex Manufacturing is supporting design of the L.A. City aircraft. For related news
