Raytheon Co. has been awarded a $50.8-million U.S. Navy contract for the Airborne Low Frequency Sonar system. The system is the primary undersea warfare sensor for the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R multi-mission helicopter. The company also received a subsequent, $5.6-million contract for production sustaining support. Work will be performed at Raytheon’s Maritime Mission Center in Portsmouth, R.I., and Thales Underwater Systems in Brest, France.
Sloane Helicopters Ltd was selected by QinetiQ Ltd as the prime contractor for the supply, modification and support of a flight-test instrumented Agusta A109E Power to enter service with the Empire Test Pilots School at Boscombe Down, United Kingdom.
DRS Technologies, Inc. was awarded a $51-million contract from the U.S. Army to support the manufacturing of Mast-Mounted Sights installed on OH-58 Kiowa Warrior. The contract is part of a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract valued at $514 million and awarded to DRS in December 2003. To date, the company has been awarded more than $228 million from the Army Materiel Command for work on this program.
Curtiss-Wright has been awarded a contract to supply probes for the Recovery Assist and Traverse System that will assist Canada’s new CH-148 Cyclones, based on the S-92, in landing aboard ships. The contract is valued at $13 million and was awarded by Sikorsky Aircraft, the prime contractor on the Cyclone project.
Intelligent Automation Corp. said the U.S. Army purchased an additional 101 IAC 1209 modern signal processing units health and usage management systems (HUMS). IAC HUMS have been selected for the AH-64, U/MH-60, C/M/HH-47, A/MH-6, and the RQ-7 Shadow.
Rockwell Collins’ Government Systems received an $11.1-million order from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command against a previously issued ordering agreement for about 69,288 hr of engineering and logistics services and related hardware in support of the CH-53E and MH-53E communication, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management program. Work will be performed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to be completed in May 2009.
