Australia Again Grounds Navy Sea Kings

By James T. McKenna | May 22, 2007

Australian’s navy has grounded its fleet of six Sikorsky Aircraft Sea Kings over safety concerns about a missing safety pin. Similar concerns were expressed two years ago when nine Australian personnel were killed in a Sea King crash, initially blamed on a missing pin used to secure a bolt in the helicopter’s flight controls. The final report on that crash is due in several months. Australia is due to replace the Sea Kings with 46 MRH-90s. The first two are to be delivered this year. For related news
