One Sheriff Donates OH-58 to Another

By James T. McKenna | May 23, 2007

The Santa Rosa County, Fla., Sheriff's Office has added a helicopter to its fleet, thanks to another agency’s donation. The Bell Helicopter OH-58A+ was one of four that belonged to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office. St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara donated it at no cost to Santa Rosa County. The helicopter will fly drug-eradication, search-and-rescue, and disaster-relief missions. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office has been without air support since Sept. 3, 2003, when its fixed-wing aircraft crashed on a drug-eradication mission. For related news
