By James T. McKenna | August 3, 2007

About 1,700 workers at AgustaWestland’s Yeovil, U.K. plant plan a one-day strike next week to protest pension-plan changes, according to the  BBC. The 24-hr strike is set for Wed., Aug. 8. AgustaWestland reportedly is facing a £94 million ($190 million) shortfall in pensions. The move adds another, minor wrinkle to efforts by that manufacturer and its U.S. partners, Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter, to keep the VH-71A U.S. presidential helicopter program on its very tight schedule of an initial operating capability of October 2009. .
