EADS to Provide Missile Detector to South Korea

By James T. McKenna | October 15, 2007

Eurocopter parent EADS says will provide its missile launch detection system to the Korean Helicopter Program. A South Korean company, LIGNex1, will integrate the sensors. South Korea is planning to purchase about 250 helicopters. The system uses an advanced imaging sensor that detects and tracks emissions of approaching missiles. The sensor has been installed on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. South Korea selected Eurocopter in December 2005 as the main partner of prime contractor Korea Aerospace Industries for the development of the country's first indigenous military transport helicopter.
