Eurocopter and the French design house Hermès are collaborating on a custom design for the EC135, which they unveiled at the 2007 National Business Aviation Assn. gathering in Atlanta.
The design, ‘l’Hélicoptère par Hermès,’ includes a Hermès-crafted interior featuring hand-crafted leather seats, a livery highlighted with the distinctive deep brown trim of Hermès packages, and retooled, extended skids to permit easier access to the cabin. The change in skids requires certification.
The companies said the package "is rooted in a straightforward concept: rise above narrow issues of style vs. engineering, and restore the passenger to a position of pre-eminence."
The move follows AgustaWestland partnering last year with the Italian design house Versace to design exclusive interiors for private helicopters. Those partners unveiled their design of an A109 interior at Heli-Expo in Dallas last March.
