Evergreen Helicopter’s unmanned systems unit has unveiled its first unmanned aircraft system, the Insight, which the company intends to use to provide high-definition, streaming imagery for fire mapping, search and rescue, remote-location monitoring, and law enforcement services. The drone, which Evergreen Unmanned Systems said can be re-programmed in flight from a two-man ground control unit, was built by Insitu, Inc. of Bingen, Wash. It flies at 48-75 kt and up to 19,500 ft, according to Evergreen, and has a maximum endurance of 20-plus hr.
