Boeing’s Hummingbird Drone Crashes in Flight Test

By James T. McKenna | December 11, 2007

Boeing's turbine-powered A160T Hummingbird drone crashed Dec. 10 during a flight test at Boeing Advanced Systems' test facility in Victorville, Calif. The Press-Enterprise newspaper said the aircraft crashed about 3 mi north of the facility at Southern California Logistics Airport. The unmanned rotorcraft, which uses an optimum-speed rotor design, returned to flight test a year ago November after a 15-month hiatus following a crash. Boeing has been extending the endurance of the aircraft in recent flight tests. For related news
