Bell Helicopter officials and their contractor partners are awaiting the report of U.S. Army evaluators following a key test of their ARH-70A Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter in early November.
The limited user test was to evaluate the ability of the Arapaho, as the aircraft has been named, to perform key tasks in combat. Of particular interest was the performance of FLIR Systems’ target acquisition and sensor system and its interaction with the Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Architecture System. The test originally was scheduled for last February, but was delayed in part until Bell officials were confident they had multiple units from FLIR that could perform to Army specs.
The report on the limited user test was expected by or shortly after the New Year.
