From the Factories: Schweizer OKs New Training Kits

By R&W Staff | February 1, 2008

Schweizer Aircraft, together with Jeppesen, has released updated training materials.

The new kits, for Schweizer 300Cs and 300CBis, update the textbook, exercise book, record folder, and syllabus for each type. Schweizer says the material complies with FAR Part 141 for private and commercial training. Jeppesen created the kits.

In response to requests from flight schools, Schweizer said, the materials now include color illustrations and photographs. They also include detailed revisions to the text, including FAA changes to training requirements.

Jeppesen offers the Schweizer materials in four bundles.

The Schweizer Helicopter Bundle includes the textbook and exercises.

The others are the Schweizer Standard Student Kit, the Schweizer Deluxe Student Kit, and the textbook matched with the Federal Aviation Regulations/Aeronautical Information Manual (FAR/AIM).

Schweizer also has updated the 300CBi Information Manual, which can be ordered directly from Schweizer. Those interested should contact Debbie Anderson at 607-739-3821, extension 4303, or by e-mail at Anderson.Debra@sacusa.com.

These training curricula date to 1980, when Hughes Helicopters and Jeppesen Sanderson originally developed the Hughes Private Commercial Helicopter Manual.

About 10 years ago, Schweizer and Jeppesen decided to update the Hughes curriculum and merge it with existing Jeppesen training materials to create the Schweizer/Jeppesen Flight Training Program.
