Eurocopter has delivered the first two EC225s in China to the Ministry of Communications in Zhuhai,
The aircraft are to be operated by the China Rescue and Salvage Bureau on search and rescue (SAR) missions. In addition to the EC225s, the ministry has a fleet of 10 helicopters and one fixed-wing aircraft.
The newest member of the Super Puma family in the 10/11-ton-class, the EC225 is capable of carrying out missions with precision day and night. Its high stability allows for efficient hoisting operations, according to Eurocopter, which is essential in SAR operations. In order to allow the helicopters to fly at under all weather conditions, the ministry’s EC225s are equipped with a rotor de-icing system.
