Rotorcraft Report: U.K. Royal Navy Wasp Crews Plan Reunion

By Staff Writer | February 1, 2008

Rotor & Wing contributor Andy Healey is looking for ex-Royal Navy HMS Endurance flight members to join a reunion of Wasp aircrew in Somerset, England in April.

"Our Antarctic patrol ship used to carry two Wasps to support survey efforts in the region and the Royal Marine detachment on the Falkland Islands," Healey said. "I flew one of them from 1979-81 and it was a terrific experience.

"It is 20 years since the helicopter was withdrawn from service and some of the guys have organized a dinner on Apr. 12 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton. All former Wasp aircrew are invited. Quite a few exchange officers flew with us. It would be great to see any of them again."

Any Wasp aircrew interested in attending the celebrations should visit www.waspreunion08.co.uk for full details and a photo gallery.
