U.S. Guard Takes First Lakotas

The first U.S. National Guard unit to operate the UH-72A Lakota has taken delivery of its first two of the utility aircraft. The Mississippi Guard’s 1st Service Battalion of the 114th Aviation Regiment accepted the aircraft, versions of Eurocopter’s EC145, at ceremonies June 7 in Tupelo. Eurcopter parent EADS North America assembles the aircraft in Columbus, Miss. The U.S. is operating Lakotas as medevac aircraft at Fort Irwin, Calif. and as VIP transports at Fort Monroe, Va.
