The Ohio Highway Patrol aviation unit is working hard to battle crime on the streets of Canton. As part of a four-day effort, the six dual-rated pilots are using their AS350 turbine-powered Eurocopters, equipped with flir, to search for everything from DUIs to street crimes. The airborne unit flies from Columbus to Canton in 45 min and covers “eight-hour shifts from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. or as late as they are needed. The two-man crew includes the pilot and a TFO,” said Staff Lt. Randy Boggs, Aviation Section Commander. The unit will continue its efforts through tomorrow. For related news
