Rotorcraft Report: Aerial Firefighting a Focus At Helitech 2008 in Portugal

By Staff Writer | August 1, 2008

Citing Europe’s growing need for aerial firefighting skills and resources, the organizers of October’s Helitech 2008 are hosting a conference on that subject on the trade show’s first day.

Helitech 2008, an offshoot of the biennial, all-helicopter show in Cambridge, United Kingdom, opens Oct. 14 in Estoril, Portugal.

The exhibition will be held at Cascais Airport; the firefighting conference will be held in Estoril, and is free. Shuttle buses will be available to take delegates between the conference and exhibition.

Two other conferences are being held in Estoril to coincide with Helitech.

The European Helicopter Safety Team plans to hold its annual helicopter safety conference at the Cascais Mirage Hotel in Estoril on Oct. 13, the day before the show. On Oct. 15, VIP helicopters will be in the subject of an all-day conference at Hotel Quinta da Marinha.
