The Department of Defense notified Congress and Bell Helicopter that it will not certify the U.S. Army Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter program for continuation, citing basic costs and schedules that support the ARH contract are no longer valid.  The ARH development cost is currently more than $580 million past contracted amount and the procurement average unit cost is nearly $6 million too high.
