Tech Team Delivers Apache Upgrade

By Staff Writer | November 25, 2008

A partnership between AgustaWestland, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and QinetiQ has delivered the first two Apache AH Mk.1s equipped with a new sighting and targeting system called M-TADS/PNVS.  The acronym stands for Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor, and promises to give crews aboard the twin-engine tank-killing attack helicopter greater situational awareness and combat effectiveness.  The system will accomplish this through extended optical targeting ranges and the latest high-resolution forward-looking infrared sensors. The team of builders also promises reduced maintenance and significant whole-life system savings over the service life of the aircraft. For related news
