Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS), a subsidiary of Stratford, Conn.-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp, won a multi-million dollar contract to convert Colombian Air Force UH-60A Black Hawks to the L variant. The six aircraft will receive the more powerful T700-701D engine, plus upgraded wiring, flight controls, avionics and instrument panels.
According to a press release issued by SAS, Colombia operates the third largest fleet of Black Hawks in the world, and is the first international customer to receive the A to L conversion. Most of the work will be performed at the Sikorsky Aerospace maintenance facility at Chase Field, Texas.
