Sikorsky is working on the 28 CH-148 Cyclones that the Canadian government contracted, but the manufacturer will be four years late now and isn’t planning on delivery until 2010. The maximum penalty of $36 million in late fees was in place when the contract was signed, but the Canadian government has decided to allow the company another two years before facing any sanctions. The Cyclone is replacing Sea King and will perform surveillance, search and rescue, passenger and cargo transfer, medical evacuations and tactical transport in support of North American and international security.
