Russia’s Defense Ministry is planning to purchase at least 10 Mi-28N Night Hunter attack helicopters every year for the next five years with a possible order for more. The Mi-28N, manufactured by the Rostvertol plant in southern Russia, is the latest variant of the Mi-28.
The Night Hunter’s two turbo-shaft engines deliver 2,200-shp each. Its combat range is 280 miles, but with external fuel tanks may be extended to 683 miles. Russia is planning to purchase at least 45 Night Hunters until 2010, fully replacing the Mi-24 Hind choppers in its armed forces by 2015.
