Military — Bell Helicopter delivered its ninth OH-58D Kiowa under the Warrior Safety Enhancement Program contract for the U.S. Army.

Military — The Government of Estonia approved the purchase of a third AW139 to perform SAR, medevac and border patrol duties for the Border Guard.

Military — The Army awarded EADS North America a contract for five additional UH-72A Lakota light utility helicopters, bringing the total number of aircraft on contract to 128.


Military — The U.S. Air Force awarded CSC a task order with a two-year contract value of $80 million to provide maintenance and repair services for the Army’s 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky. Services include: helicopter flightline maintenance and flight testing; production control; and intermediate and limited depot maintenance.

UAV — Sagem was chosen by the French procurement agency DGA to design the datalink system for unmanned aerial vehicles. The contract applies to all future UAVs.

Utility — Russia will deliver the first Mi-171 to India by the end of this year. Under contract for 80 of the transport helicopters to India, Russia has factories in Kazan and Ulan-Ude producing the Mi-171s. Russia began deliveries of the helicopter to Iran this year, under a separate $45-million contract.

Utility — Sikorsky achieved a major milestone in its X2 technology demonstrator program by successfully ground testing the aircraft with the pusher propeller installed and spinning for the first time.

VIP — Both Increment I and II of the VH-71 program have breached Nunn-McCurdy by coming in more than 50 percent over budget. Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopter and AgustaWestland are responsible for the presidential helicopter, also called Marine One.
