House Hearing on EMS

By Staff Writer | April 24, 2009

During an April 22 House Aviation Subcommittee hearing, participants provided testimony regarding the oversight of helicopter medical services as they relate to the safety of helicopter emergency medical services (EMS) operations. The Association of Air Medical Services’ (AAMS) president, Sandy Kinkade testified, as did organizations such as Helicopter Association International (HAI), and others. In the past, the FAA believed that helicopter operators could make safety changes voluntarily. But, that may change now, the agency would soon begin a rulemaking proceeding to mandate the use of certain safety equipment and procedures. For related news
