Monitoring Critical Components

By Staff Writer | April 27, 2009

Telit Wireless Solutions and Eurocopter signed a three-year agreement to develop a configuration management monitoring system for 11 of the manufacturer's helicopters. Under the terms of the agreement, Telit will develop a wireless communication system (using radio frequency ID tags) that will monitor helicopter components, hopefully improving maintenance operations by reducing downtime, ensuring part availability and catching issues before they become problems. Information about the status of a component is sent to a central system and then transferred to a server so that it is possible for a ground crew to monitor the helicopter's overall configuration.
