Sandel Delivers First HeliTAWS

By Staff Writer | November 1, 2010

Metro Aviation managing director Milton Geltz received the initial Sandel Avionics helicopter terrain awareness and warning system (HeliTAWS) to enter the market on September 20. The following day, Vista, Calif.-based Sandel handed over the first HeliTAWS unit to a fleet operator—the North Memorial Medical Center (NMMC), an EMS provider in Robbinsdale, Minn. Metro Aviation will incorporate the unit in one of its Eurocopter AS350s. MSP Aero of Minneapolis will install HeliTAWS on a fleet of NMMC AgustaWestland AW109s. The deliveries follow recent FAA technical standard order (TSO) approval of HeliTAWS. (From November 2010 Rotorcraft Report)
