Kaman Aerospace and Lockheed Martin have won a $45.8-million U.S. Naval Air Systems Command contract to evaluate the K-MAX unmanned aerial system (UAS) in the cargo resupply role. The agreement calls for Lockheed Martin Aviation Systems and Kaman to provide two K-MAX aircraft and three remote control ground stations to the Marine Corps by summer 2011, when a quick reaction assessment will take place.
