Jacksonville, Fla.-based Sterling Flight Training has taken delivery of a Robinson R44 that will be used for primary and advanced training. The company received the Raven II in California and flew it cross-country to Sterling’s facility at Craig Airport (CRG) in Jacksonville. Scott Malone, chief flight instructor, will use the R44 for primary and instrument training. He explains that, “it was important to be able to do IFR training for students who want to become professional helicopter pilots,” adding that there are cost savings vs. training in a larger turbine helicopter.
