EADS North America brought its AAS-72X to Nashville Intl Airport (BNA) for flight demonstrations during Quad-A. Along with American Eurocopter and Lockheed Martin, EADS flew the first of three technical demonstration aircraft (TDA) in December 2010. The companies are evaluating the helicopter for the U.S. Army’s armed aerial scout requirement. Based on the Eurocopter EC145, the AAS-72X comes with a mission equipment package (MEP) incorporating a targeting sensor, weapons, manned-unmanned teaming capability and a communications suite.
