Helitech 2011 will include a Steering Committee featuring a 13-member panel of helicopter manufacturers, operators and suppliers. AgustaWestland, Bell, Eurocopter and Sikorsky will be represented along with Hayward Aviation Finance, L-3 Wescam, Rolls-Royce, UK-based Rotor Blades and Specialist Aviation Services. Bristow Helicopters and Sloane Helicopters will also provide input, with additional observations from the Helicopter Club of Great Britain. Brandon Ward, Helitech exhibition manager and Peter Norton, CEO of the British Helicopter Association, are chairing the meeting, which is scheduled to take place on September 26.
Boise, Idaho-based Aviation Specialties Unlimited is displaying its equipment at Stand 515 during Helitech. ASU is no stranger to the region, having provided the Irish Defence Air Corp with 21 Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), initial and advanced training, goggle lab equipment and maintenance training for the past three years.
Law enforcement aviation units and the challenges they face is the focus of a Sept. 29 discussion during Helitech Duxford. Keynote speaker Alex Marshall, Hampshire Constabulary’s Chief Constable and lead of the UK’s National Police Air Support (NPAS), will share the challenges that law enforcement units are being met with when faced with shrinking budgets. AgustaWestland’s head of UK Government and Corporate Affairs, Richard Folkes, and Carl Crenshaw of Bell Helicopter will also give presentations.
