Bell Wins Iraqi Army Contract

By Staff Writer | May 1, 2012

The U.S. Army has signed Bell Helicopter to provide logistical support for 30 Bell 407s with the Iraqi Army. The more than $15-million contract covers training Iraqi Army Aviation pilots to operate and maintain the helicopters while increasing the use of Iraqi 407 Armed Scouts.

The aircraft, 24 of which the Iraqi government purchased through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program and six supplied by the U.S. Army, will receive maintenance services at Al Taji Air Base, with Bell providing ground support equipment via its facilities in Ozark, Ala., Piney Flats, Tenn., Corpus Christi and Fort Worth, Texas. Aircraft maintenance, contractor logistics support, initial spares and tooling for the 407s will also originate from the U.S.-based service sites.
