AgustaWestland has certified UTair as an authorized service center for the AW139. The Russian operator has agreed to purchase 10 AW139s for passenger transport, corporate and VIP missions from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi and other based in Siberia. AgustaWestland plans to hand over the first helicopter this summer, with deliveries continuing through summer 2013. Staff training is under way, and UTair intends to hire 60 pilots and 40 technicians to operate the AW139 fleet. AgustaWestland will assemble the helicopters at HeliVert, a joint venture with Russian Helicopters. Plans call for the plant to build up to 20 helicopters annually with ramp-up to full production in 2015.
