Eurocopter has launched a modernization and expansion project at its research and development (R&D) facilities in Marignane, France. The investment is part of the manufacturer’s Vision 2020, an innovation program which also includes the Systemhaus project in Donauworth, Germany that is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
Among the planned features at Marignane is a Helicopter Zero building scheduled to open in April 2013, and a complex that will employ up to 1,000 people and serve as a “plateau” for the research programs at Marignane. Construction on the new center is set to begin in July 2013, with opening slated for early 2015. The manufacturer also plans to renovate the existing design office building and incorporate new avionics test benches.
