By Staff Writer | July 31, 2012

Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Company (LHTEC) has obtained an FAA type certificate for the CTS800-4A, which posted the Turkish T129 attack helicopter. The Rolls-Royce and Honeywell joint venture already has FAA and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval of the CTS800-4N. The CTS800 powers a number of helicopters for international military use, including the AgustaWestland AW159 Wildcat, the ATAK T129 and the Japanese ShinMaywa US-2 amphibious aircraft. According to LHTEC, the engine is also receiving interest from militaries in the Asia-Pacific region. The company has received firm orders for more than 500 engines through late July.
