By Staff Writer | November 7, 2012

AAR Airlift Group has obtained a one-year extension from the U.S. Transportation Command contract related to helicopter support in Afghanistan. The $161.5-million agreement covers cargo and personnel transport using two Sikorsky S-92s, six S-61s and a pair of Bell 214 ST10s. Transcom initially awarded an Afghanistan support contract to AAR Airlift in October 2010, and extended it in 2011. Five other companies received funding under the multiple-award contract—Canadian Helicopters, Columbia Helicopters, Construction Helicopters, Evergreen Helicopters and Vertical de Aviacion.
