By Staff Writer | November 19, 2012

AgustaWestland has handed over an AW139 to the Beijing Public Security Bureau’s Fire Fighting Department. The helicopter will carry out firefighting and disaster relief missions around Beijing and also assist the Beijing Police with law enforcement operations.

The manufacturer has also delivered a pair of AW139s to an operator in the Quinghai Province of China. One of the helicopters comes equipped with a multi-role VIP/utility package, including a rescue hoist and FLIR camera. It will be based in Gulmud in western China, operating from an elevation of 9,200 feet (2,800 meters). The other AW139 will operate from Chengdu in the Sichuan Province of southwest China. AgustaWestland announced the deliveries at last week’s China Airshow in Zhuhai.
