Finmeccanica subsidiary AgustaWestland has inked a €115-million (approximately $151.9-million) contract with Baku-based Azerbaijan Airlines for eight AW139s and secured a preliminary agreement for a pair of AW189s. Six of the helicopters, including the AW189 duo, are intended for offshore transport. Two AW139s will carry out EMS operations, with one AW139 dedicated to SAR and the final AW139 to VIP transport. AgustaWestland plans to start AW139 deliveries during the second half of 2013. Certification for the in-development AW189 is projected for late 2013.
