The Thales I-Master radar system completed flight trials on a Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) in Austria earlier this month.
The flights were the first time the I-Master has been featured on a CAMCOPTER, proving that the system’s data transfer and sensor performance capabilities are compatible with a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) rotary-wing UAS.
“This trial, conducted in partnership with Schiebel, provided excellent GMTI and SAR results. It shows that I-Master can operate successfully on this VTOL UAV, meeting the specific challenges of unmanned platforms without interference or operational impact,” said Eddie Awang, vice president of ISR at Thales UK.
