Boeing has confirmed the initial airworthiness of its latest CH-47 Chinook heavy lift helicopter—the Mk6 Chinook—with a March 15 flight in Philadelphia. The Mk6 was designed with UK-specific avionics, and is scheduled for delivery to the Royal Air Force (RAF) later this year.
According to Capt. David Childs, Chinook team leader, the aircraft was able to fly less than 20 months after RAF signed a purchase agreement for it. The Mk6 is currently undergoing comprehensive testing in Mesa, Ariz.
