Sikorsky Further Consolidates Business in Turkey

By Staff Writer | May 9, 2013

The Turkish National Police (TNP) have received the first of two VIP outfitted Sikorsky S-92s, with the second scheduled for delivery later this year. They will be used for Head of State duties and join one existing S-92 in operation with the TNP since 2005.

Sikorsky Aerospace Services (SAS), in a separate deal, has announced a teaming agreement with WIKING Kale Air to establish an authorized customer service center (CSC) in Istanbul, Turkey. Kale is a JAA/EASA Part 145 maintenance organisation. The CSC will support Turkey’s S-76 fleet as well as Sikorsky products owned by other regional, southeast European and central Asia operators.

German WIKING Helikopter Service bought a majority share of Turkish Kale Air in March 2011. David Adler, SAS president, called it an “important step” toward “increasing aircraft availability” for operators within the region served by the Turkish CSC. It will provide a maintenance and modification service.

There are more than 140 Sikorsky helicopters operating in Turkey including 100 Black Hawks.
