Toronto-based Vector Aerospace has opened a 45,000-square-foot expansion at its helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) complex in Andalusia, Ala. The site, which totals more than 90,000 square feet, is now capable of servicing more than 20 aircraft at one time. Vector plans to incorporate additional lean manufacturing processes into the facility as part of the expansion, with the goal of reducing turnaround times. The addition will also result in the hiring of 30 people during 2013. Vector works on various helicopter types, including AgustaWestland, Bell, Boeing, Enstrom, Erickson, Eurocopter, MD and Sikorsky variants.
