Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland have formalized their partnership to develop a single-engine helicopter in the 2.5-ton class. Leaders from the two rotorcraft OEMs – AgustaWestland CEO Daniele Romiti and Russian Helicopters CEO Dmitry Petrov – inked a “heads of agreement” contract during the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS 2013) on August 30. The 50/50 partners will conduct a preliminary assessment of the technical design and potential commercial applications of the helicopter over the next few months. The companies first announced the joint project in summer 2012.
