Marenco Swisshelicopter is making “great progress” toward establishing a support network for the SH09 SKYe in China.
The manufacturer exhibited at this year’s China Helicopter Exposition, which ran from September 5 to 8 in Tianjin. According to Mathias Senes, commercial director for Marenco, the company is moving ahead “its strategy to set up an infrastructure to serve the Chinese markets.”
The manufacturer is assembling the first prototype SH09 using a staff that now stands at 75 people. Marenco has tested the rotor systems, gearboxes, straps and blades, and is working with Honeywell to advance the HTS-900-2 engine that will power the seven-passenger SH09. Senes told Rotor & Wing that first flight is on target for the end of 2013, with EASA certification projected in 2014 and deliveries starting in 2015.
