Bell Helicopter parent company Textron has reached agreements to purchase two flight simulation and training providers, Mechtronix and OPINICUS. Combined with the training and simulation business of Textron Systems, the two companies will merge to form a new division, Textron Simulation & Training Systems, with a projected annual revenue of more than $100 million.
Based in Montreal, Mechtronix produces the FFSX and FFTX line of simulators, as well as the FFT and Ascent flight trainers. The OPINICUS product line includes the Odyssey high-fidelity simulators, with features such as the REALFeel control loading and REALCue motion controller. Bell, Boeing, GE Aerospace, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are among the operators of OPINICUS simulators, as well as the U.S. military and FAA.
