Allan McArtor, currently chairman of Airbus Americas, will take over from Sean O’Keefe as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Airbus Group, Inc, the company’s North American business unit, on March 1, 2014. McArtor will be a member of the Airbus Group Executive Committee. Prior to joining Airbus in 2001, McArtor served as head of the Federal Aviation Administration, founder and CEO of Legend Airlines and a senior member of the Federal Express (FedEx) leadership team. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, a decorated combat fighter pilot and a former member of the Thunderbirds flight demonstration team.

EagleMed has appointed Larry Ryan as clinical supervisor of the company’s Stillwater, Okla., base. Ryan is a 10-year EagleMed veteran and his new responsibilities will include ensuring the operational readiness of the Stillwater medical crews and the medical equipment component of the company’s Eurocopter AS350 B2 helicopter. Elsewhere in EagleMed, director of safety Lance Hofmann received the chairman’s Award from the Association of Air Medical Services, Alexandria, Va. The annual award recognized not only Hofmann’s actions and commitment to safety and leadership at the organization’s Safety Management Training Academy, but also for his service as the association’s Safety Committee vice chair. Hoffman is a veteran of the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Command.


Jim Fisher has been appointed president of MRO company Uniflight, a subsidiary of Hawke Aerospace Holdings. Fisher has in excess of 30 years of aviation maintenance and management experience. Previous companies include Air Methods and Omniflight Helicopters where he had been chief operating officer (COO). Fisher will be based out of the company’s Grand Prairie, Texas, headquarters, and will have responsibility for all of Uniflight’s locations, including both of its service center locations in Pennsylvania, as well as future new locations.

Monaco-based Avinco has appointed two new hires to serve as commercial directors for key helicopter markets. Joanna Lumanlan is the new commercial director for Southeast Asia and Viviane Mello is commercial director for South America. Lumanlan, whose experience includes working for Eurocopter Philippines and Eurocopter Southeast Asia (now Airbus Helicopters), will be based in Singapore. Previously a customer support manager for the VIP, corporate and parapublic markets at Turbomeca do Brazil, Mello is based at Avinco’s offices in Monaco.


Australian Helicopters has appointed John Boag as its new managing director. However he will continue with his existing responsibilities at Bond Helicopters Australia. Both are part of Avincis Group. Boag explained that “Australian Helicopters and Bond Helicopters Australia provide very different services – the former primarily onshore operations while the latter offshore. Former managing director Scott Swift is taking up a consulting role within the wider Avincis Group.
