Phoenix Heliparts has contracted with a California pilot for a total refurbishment and upgrade of an MD530F helicopter, including a complete digital avionics package and modern interior. It will then be populated, painted and made ready for delivery in September.

The latest full-scale airframe refurbishment and complete avionics modernization is for repeat customer, Robert Reish, of El Dorado, Calif. A similar project for Reish was completed and delivered in 2012.

The avionics package includes a 1000H Pro primary flight display by Aspen Avionics, for which Phoenix Heliparts will earn a supplemental type certificate (STC). Other featured equipment includes Garmin GTN 750 WAAS GBS, Garmin GDL 88 ADS-B, Garmin GTX 33 IFR-certified digital Mode S transponder with data link capabilities and 250-watt output, and a Davtron M803 clock that provides universal, local, flight, and elapsed time with display annunciators.

A wire strike kit will also be installed on the upper and lower fuselage, as well as a Phoenix Heliparts’ STC’d compressor inspection panel.
