Russian Helicopters has begun flight testing the first prototype of its multirole Mi-171A2 helicopter. The first Mi-171A2 prototype will be tested for its in-flight operability and safety while using the KBO-17 avionics suite along with interoperability with the new VK-2500PS-03 engines. Radioelectronic Technologies produced the KBO-17 avionics suite for a glass cockpit design that includes all-weather digital TV and thermal imaging cameras. Commander and test pilot Salavat Sadriev reported that the main systems were found to be in excellent working order during the first test flight.
